Tough, Thorny, and Fiercely Resilient - The Spirit of the High-Country

Matagouri is tough, thorny, and enduring, just like the people who shaped the high country and created the original Matagouri Ball. Once a year, musterers, neighbours, and station hands would gather for music, laughter, and stories that carried on until dawn.

“The legendary Matagouri Ball had an atmosphere of its own and attracted visitors from places fifty to seventy miles away. To get there we had to make a round trip of over one hundred miles. But we were always certain of a good night’s entertainment.” - Peter Newton, Wayleggo 1947

The Matagouri Ball was no ordinary dance. It was a celebration of hard work, camaraderie, and the sheer joy of being together, and now we’d love you to join us as we carry this high-country tradition forward.

THE NIGHT INCLUDES

Three-course dinner crafted with Mt White Station produce

Canapés, a sit-down main, and a Honey, Cheese & Port Buffet for dessert, all celebrating the flavours of the station.

DRESS CODE

Rural formal: boots meet ballgowns, wool meets silk, dress to celebrate your way.

TRANSPORT

Transport to Mt White Station is not included. If there’s enough interest, we may explore options.

2WD vehicles are fine, just make sure they have enough ground clearance for the gravel road.
